Expanding into Sussex County in 2018, Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware partnered with St. Peter’s Episcopal and Epworth United Methodist churches to explore their own version of the project to serve their local communities.

And in 2020, we received an $80,000 grant from the Empowerment Program managed, by Energize Delaware, to work with property owners in West Center City, Wilmington, to provide these benefits to their tenants and the larger community.

Goals of this program are:

• to lower residents’ utility costs while increasing comfort in their homes
• to increase the value of the community’s infrastructure while decreasing the negative impact on the environment.
• to foster interfaith and community partnerships, engaging members and residents in handson service projects for their neighbors.
• by providing training and using local labor, to offer basic skill sets and a potential source of income.

Continually evolving, we see our Windows as doors...not only to a range of energy efficiency and cost-saving measures, but to local employment opportunities, to community building, and to expanding our mission of addressing the causes and impacts of climate change.
