Windows of Hope is an interior storm-window construction, installation and education program. The energy-saving window inserts are made by community members for community members.
In 2017, Delaware Interfaith Power & Light launched this program with initial funding from the New Castle Presbytery. We developed partnerships in Wilmington with Temple United Church, Trinity
Episcopal Parish/Iglesia La Trinidad, Masjid Al Kauthar and Brandywine United Methodist Community Church (BUMCC).
Expanding into Sussex County in 2018, Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware partnered with St. Peter’s Episcopal and Epworth United Methodist churches to explore their own version of the
project to serve their local communities.
And in 2020, we received an $80,000 grant from the Empowerment Program managed, by Energize Delaware, to work with property owners in West Center City, Wilmington, to provide these benefits
to their tenants and the larger community.

Continually evolving, we see our Windows as doors...not only to a range of energy efficiency and cost-saving measures, but to local employment opportunities, to community building, and to
expanding our mission of addressing the causes and impacts of climate change.
