DEIPL Co-Sponsors Solar Homes and Buildings Tour

October 7 Tour of Solar Homes/Buildings in Lower DE

Delaware Interfaith Power and Light is co-sponsoring a Tour of Solar Homes/Buildings in Lower Delaware, coordinated by Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) of Lower Delaware—the first such tour in Delaware that we know of. Other sponsors include Mid Atlantic Solar Energy Society andVegRehoboth. We hope you will consider attending to help promote Solar Energy and sustainable living in Delaware and the U.S. at the grassroots level.

The Solar Tour will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2017, 12 Noon to 4 PM. It will be a self-guided open house tour, meaning that tour guests may go to any of the solar homes/buildings, in any order, and at their own pace. The owners will be there to greet them and show them their solar applications and other interesting features.

The tour features solar-powered homes (including a tiny home), a farm storage refrigeration facility (TS Smith and Sons), Public Agencies (Lewes Public Library, Bethany Beach Nature Center) and two churches (Unitarian Universalists Church of Southern Delaware in Lewes and Community Lutheran Church in Frankford). A total of 15 homes, businesses, churches and public buildings will be on display in Milton, Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach, Frankford and Bridgeville.

The Tour is free. For questions or more information, or to register for the event, please head to the website at http://solartour.org/de. A listing of the homes/buildings and addresses available to tour will soon be available.
